Hello From Ella – Our New Intern!
The past few days have truly involved me stepping out of my comfort zone.
I've left home for the first time after just finishing school, moved house, said goodbye to my family and home church and begun my year as a Onelife Intern. I’m also a countryside person at heart, so the busy streets of London have been quite an adjustment! However, everyone has been so welcoming and encouraging to me. I can already see how God is using this time to show me so much about myself, and I trust him through it all.
I first heard about Onelife when I was 13 years old but didn’t go to a conference until February this year. Liz Bewley and her husband, Stew, had become close friends with my parents and often talked about Onelife whenever we met up with them. I remember thinking about the Onelife internship as one of my options once I finished Sixth Form, but I hadn’t really considered it until Liz asked me directly if I had thought about applying. I felt a peace in my spirit as she was talking about it and so I messaged Liz and came to meet the team. After meeting everyone, I knew this was the place for me. They felt like my tribe, my family, my people, which aligned with prophetic words that God has given me about surrounding me with people that will nurture my faith and uplift me in everything that I do.
I came along to the Onelife Conference in February, and it sparked up a passion in me for young people and the importance of investing in them from a young age so that they can grow up to be strong leaders in Christ. I wish I had learnt more growing up about emotionally-healthy leadership and the significance of understanding yourself in order to lead others well – and not just in the church, in all the different spheres of society. Out of the overflow of my heart to help people, I want to be a part of giving young people the opportunity that I didn’t have.
I love leading worship. I love to lead people to a sacred place of deeper intimacy with Jesus. I love the fact that through leadership training at Onelife, young people can learn to incorporate worship into their everyday lives and carry the ‘heartbeat of heaven’ into every space.
This year for me is the next step in my life after just finishing Sixth Form. I know that God will use me to help others, but I also know that he is going to teach me so much this year. I have a feeling that God will stretch me this year by leading me out of my comfort zone but I’m excited for all the blessings he has in store!
