Reflections on A Non-Anxious Presence – Book Club
We have loved reading Mark Sayers’ A Non Anxious Presence with the Onelife Book Club this term. Here’s some reflections from the Book Club community:
In-Between Eras
What does your personal in-between look like? Spend some time reflecting on this. What are areas of your life, thoughts, and leadership that you can identify as the old era? Then, look ahead: what excites you, what are you seeing change, where do you sense God calling you in this next chapter? – Rob
Stronghold to Network
Christian leadership can move into an autopilot as we assume that the basic structure of the world will continue. What happens when it does not? Are we instead looking to God – who is everlasting, creator of the ends of the earth, and who will not grow weary or tired? He is the renewal we are longing for. – Nadia
A Non-Anxious Presence
Sayers identifies that we live in an anxious age. I find myself setting up my life as though to avoid confronting such anxiety. Instead, Jesus presents the opportunity to meet him in this and in doing so receive a greater measure of his peace that’s required for bringing healing to the world’s anxiety. – Simeon
Pressure & Presence
The wilderness is where we encounter his presence. Bill Johnson says, ‘There are measures of his presence that you can only find in the valley.’ The wilderness allows for a deeper relationship with Jesus. In the grey zone era, when the rest of the world is engulfed in anxiety, we can turn our eyes to Jesus, receiving his peace and his presence. – Ella
On Thursday 8 December at 12.30pm we’ll be wrapping up with a 45-minute Zoom call to discuss the book and hear from Liz Bewley on how it’s shaped her leadership of Onelife and beyond. Everyone is welcome join us (link coming soon).
