Liz: Why I can’t Wait for the Onelife COnference

There is nothing like it.

All the waiting, expectation, planning and build up and then the doors open and the delegates arrive for the Onelife Conference and the adventure begins!

I remember looking out on the Distinct Conference as the young people gathered in groups of four and five, as friendships were formed, lives were shared and Jesus moved through their prayers. I remember watching as young people were released in freedom and confidence to worship Jesus with their everything…shouting out praise, dancing, clapping as joy overflowed in the room. I remember watching as a 14-year-old listened to someone leading in politics with a look on her face of ‘I could do that!’ I remember youth pastors gathering to talk about how to lead well so they thrive and model something different to their young people. I remember friends being cheered on, pancakes being made and dance moves being given the spotlight!

These are the lightbulb moments for young people. Moments of connection to Jesus and to each other. Moments where they experience equipping and encouragement for themselves. Moments where they understand that they can lead now as they partner with Jesus and step into their friendships, families and football pitches – and as they dream about their futures in politics, the arts, education, media or any sphere of society.

We are so excited to gather again this year on Saturday 19 February. As we explore the better story that Jesus offers us, we are praying for those same lightbulb moments to happen again so young people can be equipped to lead as faith-filled, character-first, exceptional leaders to usher in God’s kingdom.

Will you join us?
